It’s The Big Issue’s Christmas Special and we all must have been very good this year because it’s a bumper edition full of surprises!

While shepherds watch their flocks…

We take to the hills with Amanda Owen aka The Yorkshire Shepherdess to speak about why escaping to the country has been key this year, plus we check in with the star of All Creatures Great and Small

What is it like being the only three people in the universe safe from Covid? Astronaut Jessica Meir was on the International Space Station while the world below her was changing forever. She guides us through space, time and the great unknowing

It’s a knockout!
We go a few rounds with controversial boxing champ Tyson Fury to talk about the mental health battles he continues to fight and how he was asked for lunch by both Trump and the Pope

A last gift from Bob
With A Christmas Gift From Bob available now on Amazon Prime (check it out!) James Bowen and his onscreen alter-ego Luke Treadaway talk about the street cat’s life and legacy

Andrea Bocelli
The world’s greatest tenor tells us how to find spirituality through music at Christmas

Sabrina Cohen-Hatton
The former Big Issue vendor is now a top firefighter and one of our ambassadors. She says anyone can change their story

John Bird

Plus: More of the best words of wisdom from a year of Letter To My Younger Self interviews and we crown The Big Issue Book of the Year!

The Big Issue

The Big Issue’s own-brand products support the creation of a range of work-based opportunities for disadvantaged people.
The Big Issue has spent over 27 years at the helm of self-help revolution. It all began with the launch of The Big Issue magazine in 1991, which was created to offer homeless and disadvantaged people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income by selling a magazine on the streets. Since then over 200 million copies magazine have been sold by over 100,000 people. Vendors buy the magazine upfront for £1.50 and sell it on to the public for £3.00, and in doing so each runs their own micro-enterprise. In 2005 Big Issue Invest was launched, with the aim of extending The Big Issue’s mission by financing the growth of social enterprises and charities across the UK. To date the organisation has directly invested in over 350 such organisations, and manages or advises on more than £170 million of social funds.
