A frequent contributor to Street Art, Chris’s mysterious and intricate pen drawings arrive intermittently in batches posted to the Big Issue office, always with a brief hand-written note. Manic at first glance, it’s only upon closer inspection that the extraordinarily elaborate details of his cartoon-like collages begin to reveal themselves – the swirls of unsmiling human faces, warped and disconnected cityscapes and flashes of foreboding red, all small clues to Chris’s troubled yet optimistic story.
“I have experienced homelessness and mental health problems,†he says. “I draw and write to find inspiration and combat depression and anxiety. I believe in social justice and strive to find a hopeful future.â€
